Lona Mody, MD MSc
Co-Director With an active wet research laboratory in microbiology and a translational research agenda focused on vulnerable aging population, Dr. Mody aims to improve infection outcomes in vulnerable populations. Her major research domains include:
She has mentored several junior faculty, fellows, post-doctoral students and residents in conducting clinical, epidemiologic as well as laboratory-based research projects and has had uninterrupted NIH funding since 2003. In 2015, she received a 5-year NIH K24 Midcareer Investigator Award to mentor junior faculty in translational aging, infectious diseases and health outcomes research. Her interest in mentoring is reflected in several finished products including publications in high impact journals such as JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, PNAS and Clinical Infectious Diseases by her mentees, developing and leading career development seminars at national meetings and her mentees being recognized by research awards at national meetings. She is nationally active at several research methods, career development and public policy activities at the American Geriatrics Society, Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Importantly, she loves to paint with oil colors and has completed over 30 canvas paintings in a variety of styles including abstract art, figures and flowers. |
