1.20.2017On Friday, January 20 at 7:00PM, we will be attending a performance of In The Next Room, or, The Vibrator Play.
This provocative and entertaining work of theater explores medical practice and the treatment of "hysteria" in the 1880s and encourages us to consider how clinical practice reflects gender norms and underlying social ideas. During its Broadway production, the play was nominated for three Tony Awards. We will begin in the Arthur Miller Theatre, located inside the Walgreen Drama Center on U-M's North Campus at 7:00PM with a discussion with Dr. Tim Johnson, Chair of the U-M Department of OB/GYN, along with Melissa Freilich, Director of this Ann Arbor Civic Theatre production. We will then watch the performance of In The Next Room, or, The Vibrator Play at 8:00 PM, followed by a brief dessert reception (location TBA). More information about the performance is available here. |
