10.17.2013
Venue: Melange Restaurant
Speaker: Dr. Preeti Malani
Written by neuroscientist Lisa Genova, "Still Alice" tells the tale of Alice Howland, an esteemed Harvard professor who is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease. As a fiercely independent woman, she struggles to maintain her sense of self as she loses her identity to her disease. This book was a fantastic vehicle through which we were able to better understand the impact of Alzheimer's disease on a patient and their family.
For this event we were also joined by Dr. Preeti Malani, faculty member in both Geriatric Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Malani has a long-standing interest in the intersection of the humanities and medicine and is also an Associate Editor of JAMA.
